Joanne Loewy

Joanne Loewy, is a certified music therapist who received her doctorate in music therapy from NYU. She is on the faculty at Hahnemann University and has taught in the NYU Music Therapy graduate program as well. Dr. Loewy instituted the Armstrong Music Therapy Program in 1994. She has helped to build many hospital based music therapy programs and has lectured on medical Music Therapy and Assessment and Music Psychotherapy in the US and abroad. Dr. Loewy has written numerous articles on music therapy in pain, sedation and trauma. She has written numerous chapters and articles and has edited three books -Music therapy in Pain, NICU and in Grief and Trauma. Her writing has also been published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Physicians.
